Report by Con Lucey
Hi all,
Just the one game this weekend with the A's away to QPR Sunday morning. With the Prem B division getting tighter than Batty Foley's hold on the club finances it was vital to get the 3 points on the back of 2 defeats...and after 30 mins Killorglin looked to be going the right way when Dan Whittleton and Lee Carey had Killorglin 2-0 to the good. Unfortunately in the 32 min the home team were back in it when QPR's Dan O'Sullivan broke through the Killorglin defence and a good strike giving Bryan O'Sullivan deputising for the injured Tony Lyons no chance. Start of the 2nd half and it was the home team quickest off the mark and a minute in were back on level terms when Killorglin didn't clear a high ball in and Paul Cooney was quickest to the ball and levelled the game. Killorglin made a couple of changes bringing in Tim O'Shea and Mike Carey for the injured Edwin Kelliher...in the 68th min. Killorglin were back in front with a great move involving Paul Mc and Dan Whittleton with a great pass found Lee Carey in space in the box and he made no mistake. With 12 mins to go QPR who were causing Killorglin problems all day from corners found the net again when John Moynihan headed home. In the 79th min. Killorglin brought in Darragh Bergin to the midfield and he turned out to be an inspired substitution with time nearly up and a hopeful ball across the box Bergin headed home the winner with his 1st goal for the club(congrats Darragh)...so Killorglin taking all 3 points in a very entertaining game where QPR may feel a bit unlucky but still a long way to go in this division. Some great work on the day from the 2 boys up front Lee Carey and Dan Whittleton and nice to have Conor Standon back playing a full 90 mins so hopefully Gerry Kellihers men back on track.
That's it for this week remember to check out all the latest results and fixtures on "kerrydistrictleague.ie"... ... See MoreSee Less
